Brasília (DF), 1990 I Vive and works in Petrópolis (RJ), Brazil.

He began his professional career in 2009 in dance and theater. The multiartist began painting with murals, rooms and rooms of client houses, restaurants and several different places. While holding a workshop in Buzios, Olivia performed her first painting on canvas and did not stop. Then went to Barcelona to study abstract painting, where he found the style that would allow him to flow into the world of imagination. Over time, practice and improvement allowed to create their own identity, "As a child I discovered in art a place where I could express myself freely, I understood that creativity brought immense relief to my fears and anxieties, and feelings of joy, love and hope arose in its place. When I am painting, I feel like I am rescuing this creative, hopeful child. I found in abstract painting a fantastic world to create images that make me flow in the waves of imagination."

Currently, Policastro works with paintings in his Studio in Petrópolis and reinforces his search for self-knowledge, feels realized by having conquered this space as a base and having the tools he needs to continue in the journey of art. His works can be seen in exhibitions in an art gallery in Rio de Janeiro and have also passed through São Paulo.

INTERVIEW

How did you get into the art world?

I started customizing sneakers. I took it to an alternative store in Ipanema and they asked me to exhibit there. Then I went to wall paintings, had graffiti friends and started exploring the arts on murals. I worked doing paintings in hostel, bars, parties and houses. Then I started painting canvases, set up a studio at home, where I can work happily and calmly.

What do you understand as Fine Arts?

Interesting, I do not think I know the real definition of the word. I have always been self-taught in my artistic creations and I have never tried to study the most technical side of art history, you know? I have always been more of a feeling

But I imagine the fine arts as any art made more organically. Or a combination of various styles like photography, scenery, collage, hands-using gear. Or I may be wrong; I will give a Google [laughs].

How do you define your Art?

Abstract, minimalist, contemporary.

What are your greatest references in the world of the Arts?

I have never searched by name. I searched for tribes, body paintings, abstract styles, colors that stimulated me: nature, animals, spheres, textures. Things that would make me relax and forget the outside world, or bring me closer to people.

What are the main themes used in his works? And why is that?

Basically joy, nature and spirituality

What are the main techniques used in your work? And which ones do you like to use the most?

Use abstract painting techniques, shapes, spheres, textures. I like to use the techniques I created for myself, so I understand my identity. I usually repeat colors, shapes, and words that express what I am feeling or some feeling I want to convey.

What do you seek to pass through your works to the viewer?

Inspire feelings of joy through colors, memories, images that allow you to use imagination and creativity. Even if everyone has their own perception.

What are the best and greatest experiences in your artistic career?

The exhibition at the Cultural Gallery, shopping station Itaipava, with the exhibition "Kura Corazón" (2022). The murals made in Rio and São Paulo, especially in The Alley of Batman (SP).

In your work, is there a kind of protest beyond what is obviously seen? If so, which one? If not, is there a theme that awakens your willingness to protest?

I believe in the right of each person to be different and to express his or her feelings. In addition to the importance of taking care of the planet, of animals and bring the sense of community with love and generosity.

Are you interested in doing a traveling exhibition? If so, how do you imagine this exhibition? Would you know what topic you would like to address?

Absolutely! It would address the theme of self-knowledge and self-esteem with exercises of creativity and expression, for adults and children. Maybe lectures and questionnaires for reflections.

Where do you want to get to as an artist?

I want to feel financially secure. Have a larger studio where you can receive other artists, teach, promote meetings. And also, an art gallery, where I can exhibit my arts and also make room for exhibition of other artists.
